Saltine Cracker Bark Candy

Description:

This candy, also referred to as Christmas Crack is so fun and easy make.  It is light, crispy, sweet, and salty.  Although it is a favorite at Christmas, it can be made at any time of the year.  With only 6 ingredients and less than 15 minute prep time, why not give it a try.  It is sure to be a hit!

Ingredients:

2 Sticks of Butter

1 Cup of Brown Sugar

2 tsp. Vanilla

1 pkg saltine crackers

1 12oz pkg. chocolate chips

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:

  1.  Cover cookie sheet with foil and butter the foil.  Layer saltine crackers (1 full pkg.) to fill the pan.
  2. Melt 2 sticks of butter. Add 1 cup of brown sugar then stir a little.  Leave on medium temperature until it begins to boil.  Boil for 3 minutes.  Add 1 tsp of vanilla and stir into syrup.  Pour over the crackers to moisten all of them.
  3. Bake 5 minutes in oven at 350 degrees.
  4. Remove from oven and sprinkle 12 oz. chocolate chips of your choice.  They will melt so spread over the top rather quickly.
  5. Top with chopped walnuts or pecans.  Press into chocolate with the butter paper wrap.
  6. Chill at least 30 minutes.  Then either cut or break into pieces. ENJOY!
