HamilTEN: Beat the Heat

  1. Marcum Park Splash Pad: Located next to the beautiful RiversEdge amphitheater, Marcum Park has become a key spot for summer cool down with the addition of the splash pad in 2018. With ground level fountains and the raining “M” sculpture standing tall in the center of the pad, Marcum Park offers an inviting and family friendly environment to Hamilton resident.
  2. Flub’s: Family owned and operated, Flub’s has been providing delicious dairy treats since its opening in 1965. There are three locations scattered across Butler County, but Hamiltonians have a special place in their hearts for the one that started it all located on Eaton Ave. With 44 cyclone combinations, 11 sundaes, and tons of toppings, Flub’s has all you need to keep cool during the summer heat.
  3. Village Parlor: We all scream for ice cream, but with Village Parlor nestled in down on Main Street, Hamilton residents are screaming a little louder. Complete with hand-rolled waffle cones made in house, Village Parlor has over 20 flavors of ice cream, and a variety of sundaes, milk shakes, and malts.
  4. Wake Nation: When the summer sun gets a little too hot, it’s nice to know that Wake Nation is just around the corner. From the months of May through November, visitors can safely learn to wake board using ramps and cables rather than a boat. Children must be over five years of age to participate.
  5. Forest Run Metropark: After being inside all winter long, take advantage of the sunshine and enjoy a nice breeze at Forest Run Metropark. The options are endless with over 340 acres of land to explore. Pack a refreshing picnic or dip your toes in one of the creeks! Either way, you’re bound to beat the heat at this beautiful natural area.
  6. Jolly’s: When the weather is hot and your mouth is dry, there’s no better way to cool off than an ice cold beverage. At Jolly’s, you’re greeted with a friendly face and quality service anytime you visit. Stop in for a homemade root beer and a chili dog next time you’re on the West Side!
  7. True West: The time for iced coffee is upon us! True West has two locations, one downtown and one on Main Street, both in Hamilton. In addition to coffee, this little shop has delicious food and the Milkshake of Glory. Don’t know what that is? Stop in and find out!
  8. County Fair: Where can you get ice-cold lemonade, a funnel cake, and a thrill all in the same place? During the week of July 21-27, that answer is the Butler County Fair. The first fair was put on by the Butler County Agricultural Society in 1836, with a few wagons and livestock gathered around the courthouse. Other than the livestock, things sure do look differently today. Bring the whole family out for some fair food and fresh air!
  9. Alive After 5: Surfin’ USA: Grab your board shorts and wade through all the amazing family-friendly shops located in downtown Hamilton! Since Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year, the July Alive After 5 will take place on the SECOND Thursday of the month, July 11.
